RAVEN
Like dark angels, comes to set the balance of the natural order to rights; Raven struts and flutters though the landscapes of desert and arctic, tropics and urban sprawl, over tilled farmland and the shifting soil of the human imagination, showing itself without apology.
As the mythic Raven was known by Northwest Pacific Coast Indians as “Real Chief,” the “Great Invention,” the “One Whose Voice Is to Be Obeyed”, ravens are ministers of veiled mysteries.
For more than 12 million years, ravens have applied their splendid intelligence to the art of living by their wits. They seek and find, they reflect the dark and light of the moon.
BLACK JAGUAR
Its prestige is not of swiftness but strength, lithe elegance, lusty sensuality, and sumptuous pelage. Conveying protective grace and noble authority, jaguars have inspired everything from warrior societies and shamanic magic to some of our oldest, most commanding images of majestic divinity.
The play of light and dark in their beautiful coats and natural aggression is mirrored in symbolic ambivalence.
Associated with the eclipsing of light, of consciousness undergoing encompassment by darkness and uncanny powers. Linked with the underworld and its mysteries and transformations. The echoes of cavernous landscapes has been associated with the voice of the jaguar and so has the bringing of fertilizing rains. In South America, its hunting skills have made it “Lord of the Animals”, the master of spirits.
