Meet Malcolm Ian Cross of Echo Park As Seen in Voyage LA
Hi Malcolm Ian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve had many careers, pizza delivery person, model, actor, writer, production assistant, producer, director, street outreach coordinator for homeless youth, teacher, mentor, caretaker, plant medicine facilitator and artist. I realized my love for art when I was three years old. And like many of us, it took me quite a few iterations of self growth and discovery to understand my purpose and commit to my craft full-time.
My life experiences over these years, enhanced by my deep and profound work within the plant medicine realm, has helped me create art that is transformative, healing as well as beautiful to experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To this day, I offer much compassion and blessings to all who suffered obstacles and challenges during the pandemic. It was a very pivotal time in my artistic and creative life. As the primary caretaker for my mother afflicted with Alzheimer’s I faced many many challenges during the pandemic. This time in my life also presented tremendous opportunities to focus on my creative output and healing arts. It also created the space for me to lean into the study of how to hyperfocus on the creation of art, be disciplined, and to trust in my self expression.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been blessed to learn from so many incredible master teachers, philosophers, artist, facilitators, indigenous elders, and healers. My mission is to “Elevate global illumination and love through God’s healing arts and artistic creations.” I am in a continuous study of human nature, mankind, various expressions of artistic creativity, transformation, energetic frequencies, music and design.
I am aware that art is a powerful medium to heal, support and inspire all of mankind.
My artwork is curated with energetic intentionality, celestial support and in alignment with a high vibrational state of frequency to do just that. This is the driving force behind what I create.
And this is why I am focused on sharing my work with a much larger audience here in Los Angeles and beyond.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Many valuable lessons have been discovered during this epic journey. And one of the most valuable is, “there is nothing more important than endurance.” Enduring all of the challenges, disappointments, critics, suffering, late nights, sleepless mornings and lack to reach the culminating point of the power of one’s authentic expression. Whatever that may be. It takes endurance to achieve it.
Blessings on Blessings to you!
